A public hearing had been scheduled at Tuesday’s Logan City Council meeting on a rezone request for the Garden Park Apartments, located on 2.7 acres from 115 to 169 South 100 East.
The hearing was postponed until the next meeting of the council, but the issue came up during the question and answer period. Several people expressed opposition to the development, including Janice Bird.
“I do not concur that that is a good development for our neighborhood,” she said. “We’re one block from the Tabernacle. When they had the art fair, everyone was in the park. They were all families, people, kids, everyone has their wedding photos—everything there. Even though it’s a small neighborhood park, it’s very important to all of us.”
Bird said because of the proposed development, people from other Logan areas are fearful that they will lose their neighborhoods, too.
