Possible plea deal coming for convicted child abuser facing new charges

LOGAN — A possible plea agreement is in the works for 54-year-old Weston E. Davidson. The Logan man, who was previously convicted of sexually abusing a child, is accused of an additional child sex abuse charge in 2013.

Davidson appeared in 1st District Court Monday afternoon. Prosecutors have charged him with aggravated sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony. The allegation allegedly occurred around the same time he was accused of three similar charges.

Davidson’s defense attorney told the court they were very close to a resolution, but asked for a few extra weeks, since the lead prosecutor was out of town.

Court records show, in 2013 prosecutors charged Davidson with three counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony. He later accepted a plea deal, pleading guilty to one charge. As part of the agreement, prosecutors dropped the remaining two charges. He is currently incarcerated in the Utah State Prison, serving a three-years-to-life sentence.

During Monday’s court appearance, Judge Kevin Allen ordered Davidson to appear again in court June 5.
