LOGAN – It appears Utah State football’s Rayshad Lewis will be leaving the Aggie football program. As a freshman, Lewis was one of USU’s top wide receivers, and there was a chance the sophomore-to-be and son of former NFL great Ray Lewis would be playing both sides of the ball this fall.

The athletic department hasn’t confirmed any move, but Lewis’ Twitter account leaves little doubt of his intentions. His teammates have been active on Twitter, wishing Lewis luck in the future. Some of those tweets have been retweeted by Lewis.

Lewis played in all 12 games during his freshman season and made seven starts. He recorded 40 receptions for 476 yards. Head coach Matt Wells used him as both a wide receiver and a defensive back during spring camp.

“He’s a talented kid,” Wells said less than two weeks ago, “and there is a lot of things we can do to expose him to both sides of the ball, as well as on special teams.”
