LOGAN — A head-on collision along US-89/91 Friday afternoon sent two people to the hospital, both in serious condition, and slowed traffic for over an hour.
Logan City Police Capt. Tyson Budge said a 26-year-old woman was driving a white Hyundai southbound when she crossed the center lane near 2600 S. The vehicle struck a blue Chevy head-on, driven by a 24-year-old man.
Both drivers suffered severe injuries and had to be extricated from their vehicles by emergency personnel. “The man especially had pretty bad injuries,” explained Budge.
Officers requested a medical helicopter, which landed on the roadway and transported the man to the hospital. The woman was also transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
Budge said the driver’s identities are not being released right now due to the nature of their injuries.
Traffic along US-89/91 was detoured while officers investigated. “We don’t know what exactly caused the crash at this point.”
The accident occurred around 4:45 p.m.
