Cache County Suicide Prevention Coalition to hold inaugural event

PROVIDENCE – The new Cache County Suicide Prevention Coalition came together earlier this year and the inaugural event will be held Monday April 10 at 7 p.m. at the Spring Creek Middle School in Providence.

Coalition member Amy Anderson said the event will be especially targeting teenagers.

“We recognize that depression and feelings of isolation are not strictly isolated to that group,” she said, “but the idea is to start with this age group and also provide those resources so that people know there are trainings they can attend on suicide prevention itself.”

Anderson said some of those trainings are called QPR and are run by the Bear River Health Department.

“It’s really just a place for people to come who are concerned about a loved one,” Anderson said, “to learn what resources there are and to be able to know where to make the next step.”

She said Sergeant Troy Liquin and Emily Pugsley are the co-chairs of the Coalition.
