Sierra Homes to provide fans for drying out flooded homes

Custom home builder Sierra Homes is purchasing fans to help flooded homeowners dry out.

Sierra Homes’ owner, Jay Stocking, and his wife, Courtney, are residents of Box Elder County. As they’ve observed and experienced the widespread flooding impacting Cache and Box Elder counties, they wanted to help their friends and neighbors.

“We consider everyone family,” said Courtney Stocking, Sierra Homes’ office manager. “We are extremely grateful and thankful that we live in this community, and we wanted to do what we could in this situation as a way to give back.”

The Stockings currently have fans running in their home to help mitigate flooding and saw a need for many more in Tremonton and neighboring communities. In response, Sierra Homes has made arrangements to purchase between 50 and 100 fans this afternoon, picking them up in Salt Lake City and then lending them to people who need help drying out their homes.

In a Facebook post this morning, Jay Stocking indicated that Sierra Homes was providing the fans as a community service for those who may be unable to afford the services of a restoration company. The fans will be available at approximately 4:00 p.m. this afternoon and may be checked out for use free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis. Sierra Homes will keep a credit card or check on file to secure the fans but will not process charges or cash deposit checks if the fans are returned.

“We’ve seen everyone pitch in to help during this flooding,” said Courtney Stocking. “Everyone’s put in time filling sand bags and done what they could. This is our way to help our neighbors.”

“If you know someone that needs this,” wrote Jay Stocking, “please have them contact us at Sierra Homes. Thanks to everyone that has stepped up and helped the community. I have seen a lot of amazing people doing great things.”

The Stockings are asking people who use the fans to return them as quickly as possible for the benefit of others in need of assistance. More information is available during business hours at (435) 257-4963 (dial 0 for the operator). After 5:00 p.m. and during weekends, Courtney Stocking may be reached at (435) 279-6272.
