2017 will be a busy year for Logan Parks and Recreation

There is a lot to look forward to in 2017 if you live in Logan City. That is what Logan Mayor Craig Petersen told those attending the city council meeting on Tuesday.

Petersen said construction will be done in June for a new Pickleball complex to be built at Bridger Park and he expects it to be heavily used both by local residents and the visiting Summer Citizens.

The mayor said changes are also in the plans for Merlin Olsen Park.

“We will replace the tennis courts, put in a couple more Pickleball courts,” Petersen explained. “But the other thing that is interesting about this, underneath the tennis courts we’ll have the capability of putting in a small ice skating rink.

“The thing that makes that important is this year we started out with the ice skating rink but the weather went bad on us. We have to have snow under the ice skating rink. Here we don’t have to. This is an ice skating rink that will have a longer season than the larger rink.”

He said it will also be used for hockey competition.
