Implementation of 311 phone system was a highlight of 2016 for Logan City

In presenting his annual State of the City address on Tuesday, Logan Mayor Craig Petersen noted it had been exactly one year since the city celebrated its sesquicentennial.

He said there has been a lot to celebrate during the year just passed and one of the first was the implementation of the 311 system.

“That’s for non-emergency calls and the weekend-before-last, when we had our snow emergencies, that was successfully used,” Petersen explained. “When citizens called in, they were told that they could call the 311 number, and we just transferred that down to the service center where they were doing the sand bags. That worked out very successfully for us.”

Among the highlights of 2016 for Petersen was selling of the south portion of city block where a new Hampton Inn will be constructed. The mayor said among the projects planned for this year is a new Pickleball complex.
