Late Sunday evening the Box Elder School District announced it would be cancelling classes Monday because of current road conditions and the potential for an even worse situation.
Because of freezing rain there were dozens of accidents and slide offs along I-15 Sunday and the National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for the area, predicting heavy snow and wind for Northern Utah, with one to two feet of snow possible.
On its Facebook page the district announced that it anticipated having classes on Tuesday. The district said a decision about when to make up the lost days because of weather will be made after the threat of severe weather has passed.
Area schools have been forced to close several times or have delays over the last week due to heavy snows and frigid temperatures.
