Utah Highway Patrol troopers to help at Trump inauguration

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Forty Utah Highway Patrol troopers will help provide security in Washington for President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on Jan. 20.

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce says the troopers will be deputized by Washington metro police and have full police power in the city.

He says they’ll be stationed along the parade route.

Washington police will pay for the troopers’ travel and time.

Utah troopers have helped with security in past inaugurations and at the 2016 Republican National Convention.
