Day care operators arrested on suspicion of child abuse

Police have arrested the operators of a North Logan day care center, suspected of child abuse.

Craig and Brenda Petith were booked into the Cache County Jail on Thursday. The 47-year-old man and 45-year-old woman are each being held on suspicion of misdemeanor child abuse.

In a press release, North Park Police Chief Kim Hawkes said officers began investigating the couple, after his department received a child abuse neglect report from the Division of Child and Family Services. The report alleged multiple incidents of child abuse at Brenda’s Day Care.

Investigators later uncovered evidence that supported the allegation.

Hawkes said the Petith’s day care that is operated out of their home, is also being investigated by the Bureau of Child Development that issues day care licenses.
