Idaho man pleads guilty to walking naked outside Logan LDS Temple

LOGAN — A 53-year-old Franklin, Idaho, man has waived his right to a preliminary hearing and pleaded guilty to walking naked outside the Logan LDS Temple.

Kelly T. Archibald waived the hearing in 1st District Court Monday afternoon. His public defender, Mike McGinnis, told the court they had worked out a plea agreement with state attorneys.

Archibald pleaded guilty to lewdness by a sex offender, lowered to a class A misdemeanor, and criminal trespass, a class B misdemeanor.

State attorney Jacob Gordon told the court how Archibald was arrested on the night of November 13, after stripping naked and climbing the fence of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Temple. He was found by officers walking around the grounds.

Investigators said Archibald told them he was looking for a wife. They later found a shirt and blanket inside his truck that was parked nearby.

Archibald is a repeat offender. Idaho court records show, in March 2008, he pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a child under 16. He was sentenced to serve at least three-years in prison.

Judge Thomas Willmore ordered Archibald to remain in jail and scheduled sentencing for January 30.
