Deputies investigating dog attack in Millville

Cache County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a dog attack that occurred Tuesday afternoon in Millville.

Sheriff Chad Jensen said 20-year-old Sierra Coe was walking home from the Millville Post Office when she was attacked by a pit bull and a great dane. The pit bull reportedly bit her as she began screaming for help.

A neighbor, 60-year-old Laura Ferguson, witnessed the attack and tried to help Sierra, but was also bitten by the dog.

Deputies report a second witness, 54-year old Kristy Burton, also tried to help the two women and was bitten during the incident.

All three victims had puncture wounds and lacerations from the dogs.

One of the women was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for her injuries. The other two victims were taken by private vehicle to receive medical treatment.

The pit bull was impounded at the Cache Humane Society, and its owner, Casey Allen, was notified of the incident.

Jensen said the case is under investigation by the Animal Control deputies and will be reviewed by the Millville City Attorney for criminal charges.
