USU’s Center for Persons with Disabilities needs your ideas

Old Main

This week the Utah State University Center for Persons With Disabilities is wrapping up an effort to gather information to help it chart a course for the future.

“Every five years the CPD engages in a statewide needs assessment on issues that affect the state’s disability community,” said Cyndi Rowland, CPD Associate Director. “We do it because we want to focus the very next five years on things that will positively impact the disability community, individuals with disabilities and their family members.”

Rowland said the four hot topics in the Utah disability community are employment, transition, health care and mental health.

“We are seeking input in those areas and we are looking for that input from a wide array of folks, including individuals with disabilities themselves and their family members, plus the professionals that work with them. We also welcome their co-workers, advocates and neighbors and friends that have opinions on any of those topics.”

Rowland said a survey is available online where the CPD is seeking opinions from Utahns and the links can be found at www.cpdusu.org/opinions.

Anyone can go online and participate in the survey through the end of the day Wednesday, Sept. 28. Those interested in participating in statewide call-in focus groups may call at either 1 p.m. or 7 p.m. on both Wednesday, Sept. 28 and Thursday, Sept. 29.
