No formal protests filed for water conservancy district proposal

Another milestone has been reached by the Cache County Council in its effort to get the issue of a Water Conservancy District on the November ballot. Cache County Executive Craig Buttars told members of the Cache County Council on Tuesday that the deadline for filing a protest has passed. The deadline was Monday, September 12.

“I have, on my desk, two letters that were officially presented,” Buttars said, “that were in opposition to placing the water conservancy district proposal on the ballot. I felt good that there were only two people who felt strongly enough to put it in writing and present it to their city or the county clerk.”

Now, Buttars said, public meetings will be held throughout the county to make sure residents get the information they need. He said once they learn what a water conservancy district is, and what it would mean to Cache County, they tend to support the ballot issue.
