Utah St CB Daniel Gray taken off Coliseum field on stretcher

Utah State cornerback Daniel Gray was taken from the Coliseum field on a stretcher after getting injured while making a tackle against Southern California.

Gray was injured in the first quarter of the Aggies’ game at USC on Saturday.

He tackled USC receiver Steven Mitchell Jr. for a 6-yard loss but didn’t get up after the hit. Players from both teams kneeled on the sidelines while medical personnel tended to the senior, a transfer from Tennessee.

Most of the Utah State roster then ran onto the field to give good wishes to Gray while he was wheeled off the field and up the Coliseum tunnel.

After the game, USU head coach Matt Wells confirmed during his post-game radio interview on KVNU that X-Rays on Gray came back negative and he was able to join his teammates in the locker room after the game. A timeline on Gray’s playing status for upcoming games is unclear, but Wells said he anticipates Gray will be okay.
