Richmond mayor stepping down

After serving almost 11 years as the Mayor of Richmond, Michael Hall is stepping down from the position following the next council meeting to be held on September 20. A council member, Brad Jensen, is also leaving at the same time.

Mayor Hall says it was a difficult decision but he has other obligations taking up a lot of his time and he realizes there are others who can do a good job serving the community.

He says being mayor was a great experience and he enjoyed working with the council, along with employees, volunteers and other community members.

“A couple of the main accomplishments that we feel really good about are the updated waste-water system that we now have in town,” says Hall, “the culinary water tank and what we have done with the culinary water system.

“And then I would also say getting the street light on the highway and Main that we did many years ago. That has helped traffic in the city and been a real safety feature in the city.”

He says a lot of work had to be done to preparation for the Cherry Peak Ski Resort east of Richmond but he says there has been a good relationship with the owners and feels it has been a great addition to the city.
