If you would like to own your own home and don’t think you can afford it, you may want to be part of Neighborhood Nonprofit Housing Corporation’s Owner-Builder program. Administrative Assistant Jackie Hebdon says there will be an open house at the new Maple View subdivision in Nibley (located at 2800 South 11th West) on Wednesday, August 10.
Those attending will have a chance to tour eight homes that have been built through the program. Hebdon says the new home-owners save a great deal of money by putting in time and working together to build 65% of their home.
“We will be having ice cream sandwiches, the Fat Boy ice cream,” says Hebdon. “There will be a bouncy house for the kids. There will also be a drawing for a laptop and a printer. This is part of Neighborhood Nonprofit Housing Corporation Owner-Builder program.”
Hebdon says the hours will be from 4-7 p.m. She says, so far, 375 owner-builder homes have been built in Cache Valley and the next project will be in Hyrum. Applications for that project will be taken at Wednesday’s open house.
