Cache County Republican chair discusses GOP convention roll call vote

LOGAN – Utah Senator Mike Lee and a group of other Utah delegates were the center of attention at the start of Monday’s National Republican Convention when they tried to force a roll call cote to help stop Donald Trump from becoming the party’s presidential nominee. The effort failed and Cache County Republican Party Chairman Boyd Pugmire said he was surprised and upset that the senator was a part of that movement. He said Lee has been a supporter of Ted Cruz.

“You know, bottom line is, the Cruz thing is over,” he said. “And people need to get past it and move forward. Right now if you either support Donald Trump or you will be electing Hillary Clinton. That is the option. So people need to get over it and move on.”

Pugmire said Trump was never his favorite candidate, but he defeated all the others. He believes it is now time to get behind him and do what is best for the country.
