Logan City’s decision to tear down the Emporium and two nearby buildings in the center of the block between Center Street and 100 North on Logan’s Main Street came as good news to downtown business owners.
Logan Downtown Manager Gary Saxton says they are hoping something will happen to that space that will draw a lot of people downtown.
“We were in support of that space occupying a library as well,” Saxton says, “but we didn’t want it to be just solely a library. We wanted it to be a center for all sorts of activity to occur: concerts, receptions, conferences, meeting spaces, restaurants, cafes, residential housing. We just want a really dynamic space.”
Saxton says a lot of activities will continue to be held downtown while waiting for the changes.
