LOGAN, Utah – Utah State’s home football game against San Diego State has been moved to Friday night it was announced Monday as the Mountain West released its initial slate of 10 televised games set for national broadcast on Thursday and Friday nights by CBS Sports Network, ESPN and ESPN2.
Utah State’s home game against San Diego State will now be played on Friday, Oct. 28, and televised nationally on CBS Sports Network at 6 p.m.
During the 2015 season, Utah State had nine nationally televised games on CBS Sports Network and the ESPN family of networks.
Other Thursday and Friday night games involving Mountain West teams that will be televised nationally include: Wyoming at Eastern Michigan on Friday, Sept. 23, at 5:30 p.m. (CBSSN); Boise State at New Mexico on Friday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m. (CBSSN); San Diego State at Fresno State on Friday, Oct. 14, at 8 p.m. (CBSSN); BYU at Boise State on Thursday, Oct. 20, at 8:15 p.m. (ESPN); San José State at San Diego State on Friday, Oct. 21, at 8:30 p.m. (ESPN2); Air Force at Fresno State on Friday, Oct. 28, at 8:30 p.m. (ESPN2); San José State at Boise State on Friday, Nov. 4, at 8:15 p.m. (ESPN2); UNLV at Boise State on Friday, Nov. 18, at 7 or 7:30 p.m. (ESPN2); and Boise State at Air Force on Friday, Nov. 25, at 1:30 p.m. (CBSSN). All listed times are Mountain.
Between the two broadcast partners, at least 44 football games will be televised in 2016 on their various national platforms. Additional broadcasts by CBS Sports Network, ESPN networks, ROOT SPORTS and the Mountain West Network powered by Campus Insiders will be announced in the near future.
Utah State’s 2016 schedule begins with a non-conference home game against Weber State on Thursday, Sept. 1, followed by a road game at Pac-12 Conference member USC on Saturday, Sept. 10. USU then returns home to host Sun Belt Conference member Arkansas State on Saturday, Sept. 17
Utah State will begin Mountain West play at home for the third-straight year as it hosts Air Force on Saturday, Sept. 24. USU then plays back-to-back Mountain West road games at Boise State and at Colorado State on Saturday, Oct. 1, and Saturday, Oct. 8, respectively.
Utah State will then have a bye before hosting Fresno State and San Diego State in back-to-back Mountain West home games on Saturday, Oct. 22, and Friday, Oct. 28, respectively.
As the calendar turns to November, Utah State plays at Wyoming on Saturday, Nov. 5, before hosting New Mexico on Saturday, Nov. 12, in its final home game. USU will then conclude its regular season with back-to-back road games against Mountain West foe Nevada on Saturday, Nov. 19, and at in-state rival BYU on Saturday, Nov. 26.
For Utah State, this year’s schedule marks the first time since 2012 that it will have three home games before the first of October, while it will also be playing consecutive road games to end a season for the first time since 2007.
The 2016 schedule will play out over 14 weeks, concluding on Sat., Dec. 3, with the Mountain West Football Championship Game to be played at the home stadium of the highest ranked of the two divisional champions.
The 2016 MW football membership includes Air Force, Boise State, Colorado State, New Mexico, Utah State and Wyoming in the Mountain Division and Fresno State, Hawai’i, Nevada, San Diego State, San José State and UNLV in the West Division.
