The Logan City School District Administration and School Board are pleased to announce that after an extensive application process, Kenneth Auld has been selected as the new principal at Logan High School beginning July 1, 2016.

Mr. Auld comes to the Logan City School District from the Granite School District where he has most recently been serving as Assistant Principal at Hunter High School. Craig Stauffer, Hunter High School Principal stated, “One of Mr. Auld’s best attributes is his genuine concern for each student. He cares about kids, and wants to do all he can to ensure they graduate with the knowledge and skills they need to be successful.”

Mr. Auld began his path toward the principalship as the teacher of a classroom for students with behavioral disorders at Bonneville Junior High. From 2005-2009, Mr. Auld worked with students with significant behavioral challenges, all while earning his Masters in Social Work from the University of Utah as well as a Masters Degree in Special Education and Administration from the University of Phoenix. In 2010, Mr. Auld was hired as an Assistant Principal at Kearns High School, a diverse high school on the west side of the Salt Lake Valley. In that same year, he was awarded the Community Citizen Service Award from the Salt Lake Unified Police Department for his role in promoting a safe environment at Kearns High School. He also received the Utah State Employee of the Year Award in 2011.

Superintendent Frank Schofield stated, “I am thrilled to bring someone of Mr. Auld’s background and expertise to Logan High. His commitment to student success, his understanding of how to support teachers in their work, and his willingness to build on traditions of success, were all illustrated throughout the application process. Mr. Auld’s experience in working with the variety of programs that exist in a diverse, comprehensive high school will be tremendous benefit the Logan High community, and the Logan City School District. I am eager to welcome him to our team.”

The process used to select Mr. Auld consisted of short interviews with a stakeholder committee, which included parents, teachers, various staff members, and other administrators. Candidates also provided a written analysis of student achievement data from Logan High School, and finished their day-long activities with a public interview with the Board of Education. The Superintendent and Board of Education used all the information presented to them in their selection process.

Following the decision to extend an offer to Mr. Auld, Ann Geary, LCSD School Board President said, “I am excited to have Ken Auld at Logan High School. He has experience in dealing with many of the challenges and opportunities that we have at the school. During our stakeholder interviews, board members had the opportunity of watching him interact with many different groups. We were very impressed with his ability to communicate with them.”

“I feel very fortunate and blessed to work with the students and teacher of Logan High School. It has been a long-time dream of mine to be a high school principal and I am excited to fulfill that dream in Logan,” Mr. Auld stated as he was introduced as the new administrator.
