Police looking for Logan woman accused of passing false checks

Tori Searle, 39, accused of cashing fraudulent checks and stealing money from local businesses.

LOGAN — Police are asking for the public’s help, locating a 39-year-old Logan woman accused of stealing money from local businesses.

Logan City Police Lt. Rod Peterson said Tori Searle is suspected of writing checks that belonged to a man who passed away some time ago.

“She is going around to local retailers, and some of them are cashing those checks because they just believe her,” said Peterson. “They soon realize that those checks are no good and they have called the police.”

Officers initially charged Searle with illegally cashing fraudulent checks. Even after being questioned and charged, investigators believe she is continuing to try and pass more checks off.

Peterson recommended that businesses be careful cashing any check before verifying its authenticity.

“Make sure that you get identification from people that you do cash checks for.”

Police have had previous involvements with Seale. They are asking anyone, who has information about her whereabouts, to call police at 753-7555
