Fire crews spent almost two hours Monday night fighting an attic fire at a dental office in Smithfield.
The fire was reported around 10 p.m. at the Community Dental Center near 130 West 700 South.
Smithfield City Fire Chief Jay Downs said the owner had been notified earlier of an alarm at the office building. When he stopped by to check on it, he saw and smelled smoke.
The fire was mostly contained to the attic. But Downs said it was difficult to find because it was hidden by the insulation.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation and the amount of damage is still being determined. State fire marshals are expected to assist investigating in the cause.
