LOGAN — A 30-year-old Logan man, Catlin L. Joe has accepted a plea deal to avoid prison, after he was arrested and accused of burglary and assault while responding to an online ad for sex.
Joe appeared in 1st District Court Monday morning accepting a deal from prosecutors. Under conditions of agreement, he pleaded guilty to attempted aggravated burglary, a second-degree felony. In exchange, state prosecutors dropped two other minor charges and agreed not to recommend a prison sentence.
Back on December 10, police officers were called to a home in the Hillcrest neighborhood, after Joe allegedly hit a man, breaking a bone in his face.
According to investigators, Joe was responding to a Craigslist ad and went to the victim’s home. The man told officers, he and Joe smoked a joint and drank some Vodka before having consensual relations.
Afterwards, the victim said Joe became angry and aggressive, and started fighting with him.
Police said when a roommate who was upstairs, heard the two men struggling and tried to intervene, Joe punched him in the face. He was booked into the Cache County Jail and is being held on a $25,000 bail. He is scheduled to be sentenced February 8.
