Man arrested after replying to ad for sex and fighting with two men

Catlin L. Joe, 30 arrested Friday, accused of robbery and assault after responding to a online ad for sex.

LOGAN — A 30-year-old Logan man, Catlin L. Joe was arrested Friday, accused of robbery and assault after responding to a online ad for sex.

Logan City Police Capt. Tyson Budge said officers were called to a home in the Hillcrest neighborhood after Joe allegedly hit a man, breaking a bone in his face.

According to investigators, Joe responded to a Craigslist ad and went to the victim’s home. The man told officers, he and Joe smoked a joint and drank some Vodka before having consensual relations.

Afterwards, the victim said Joe became angry and aggressive, and started fighting with him.

Budge said a roommate who was upstairs, heard the two men struggling and went to the bedroom where they were. When the roommate tried to intervene and tell the defendant to leave, Joe punched him in the face.

Joe was charged with aggravated burglary, a first-degree felony, intoxication and disorderly conduct. Budge said the burglary charge was because the defendant refused to leave the residence while in the process of committing other crimes.

Joe appeared in 1st District Court Monday afternoon, by closed circuit video from the Cache County Jail.

Judge Kevin Allen set bail at $25,000 after state prosecutor Spencer Walsh asked for the higher bail, noting that Joe has a previous criminal history, including pleading guilty to assault in 2012.
