Utah woman, dogs rescued from icy reservoir waters

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A woman and her two dogs have been rescued from the icy waters of Mantua Reservoir in northern Utah.

Police say a 32-year-old woman from Heber was walking her dogs Sunday morning while visiting family in Honeyville. Mantua Police Chief Mike Johnson says the dogs ran onto the reservoir’s ice and fell through.

Johnson says the woman fell in herself when she ventured out on the thin ice to rescue her pets.

Someone driving by called 911. Part-time Mantua police officer Brad Nelson responded and says he found the woman struggling with ice up to her chest.

Nelson says he was able to rescue her but had to walk onto the ice, which was cracking under his feet.

Johnson says the woman and both dogs are in good condition.
