Crews conduct prescribed burn east of Paradise

A prescribed burn, east of Paradise and south of Blacksmith Fork Canyon, has prompted multiple calls to law enforcement Wednesday morning from concerned citizens.

Area manager with the Utah Division for Forestry, Fire and State Lands, Blain Hamp said the fire is intentional. Crews are conducting the burn on around 15 acres of logging slash in the south east part of the county.

Hamp said the fire size is relatively small but because the fuel for the fire is wet, it is smoldering and producing a lot of smoke.

The burn will continue through Wednesday and smoke is expected to be seen through the evening.

Hamp said crews conducted the burn Wednesday in hopes of completing it before a holiday storm is forecasted to drop snow in the area.
