Logan man sentenced to prison for seventh DUI

Wayne L. Thalman, 51, was given the maximum sentence, zero-to-five-years on one count of driving under the influence of alcohol, a third-degree felony.

LOGAN — A 51-year-old Logan man was sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to his 7th DUI.

Wayne L. Thalman appeared in 1st District Court Monday afternoon. He was given the maximum sentence, zero-to-five-years on one count of driving under the influence of alcohol, a third-degree felony.

State attorney Spencer Walsh told the court Thalman’s most recent case came after he was drinking at a party on February 7, 2015. While there, he got into a fight, left and started driving home. He was arrested after officers conducted a traffic stop.

Judge Kevin Allen told Thalman he felt bad for him and said, his addiction to alcohol had caused so many problems in his life. He noted Thalman had tried to receive treatment and even graduated from drug court, a program that focuses on frequent testing and court supervision. He said though, the court had no allowance considering his history.
