Magician and Illusionist to perform in Logan for the first time

LOGAN — He has been called “The Authentic Illusionist,” and voted the best touring family show. Saturday night, Jay Owenhouse will perform his show of magic and illusion called, “Dare To Believe,” in the Ellen Eccles Theatre.

Owenhouse said he has been passionate about magic and illusions since he was four-years-old.

“I saw a magician perform at my sister’s birthday party when I was four-years-old and it just amazed me,” said Owenhouse. “Of course back then it was before the internet, so if you wanted to learn about a subject you went to the library and got books on that subject, and that is what I did. I began to learn some sleight of hand and it just kind of stuck.”

While in high school, Owenhouse was recruited to work for a magic show that was being put together at the Hilton Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. He has toured across the country and recently returned from a tour in China and Japan.

Owenhouse said Saturday night’s performance in Logan will be a show where members of the audience will float in mid-air, get sawed in half and predict the future. The show will also feature two of his pet Bengal tigers. He said, he hopes the show will inspire people.

“We do impossible things with the tigers,” said Owenhouse. “We do impossible with people from the audience and it is just an evening of amazing illusions. Hopefully people will come away realizing anything is possible.”

The show begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the Ellen Eccles Theatre Box Office and online at www.cachearts.org.
