<p style=”text-align: left;”>June 12, 9:30 a.m.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>Willow Park, Logan

If you live in Logan, there is a good chance you’ve seen Brent Carpenter wave, honk and smile at you as he’s rode past on his bike. He has been doing it for years, and each summer everyone gets a chance to ride around town with him.

According to Kae Lynn Beecher, executive director of Cache Employement Training Center (CETC), the organization hosting the event, the event was started five years ago to help raise money for the program and to raise community awareness about people with disabilities in Cache Valley.

“We were talking about what an amazing figure (Carpenter) was, showing that he can do whatever he puts his mind to and he’s not going to let his disability keep him down,” Beecher said. “Everyone in the community knows Brent riding around, honking his horn and waving at everybody. That gives the community someone to focus on that has a disability and to come and support him and support all people with disabilities.”

Since its inaugural year, the event has expanded and grown. Beecher said about 200 people showed up the first time, last year there were more than 850 people. It has also increased from two sponsors to 23. The event will include many activities and events to entertain the kids. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. and the ride takes place at noon. For just $5, anyone can get a ticket to the Cruise-In. The ticket is good for all three days of the event, and it may take that long to see all the cars, motorcycles and trucks that show up to the annual car show – more than 1,000 vehicles arrive each year.

According to the Cruise-In website, the event started with just five different people getting together to organize the first Cruise-In. Now attendance has reached the 30,000 mark. Every year one lucky person that attends the show wins a car. This year’s car is a 1949 Mercury Eight.

That Famous Preston Night Rodeo

July 30 – August 1

Preston, Idaho

For rodeo chairman Kris Beckstead, Preston’s rodeo is more than just a rodeo. She said she thinks it is the biggest event in the valley.

“More people come home for the rodeo than come home for Christmas,” she said. “All the class reunions, everything that happens to draw people back happens during rodeo week. We’ve all been going to the rodeo since we were little people and its tradition for so many families.”

The three day event is in its 80th year. It normally sells out every night and attracts the nation’s top cowboys. It became famous by being the first night rodeo in the United States. In addition to bull riders and barrel racers, the town hosts a number of other events during rodeo weekend, including a nightly parade, a fun run, a golf tournament and an air show.
