County Council revisiting funding for community splash pads

One of the major items on the agenda for the Cache County Council on Tuesday is to review the proposed recommendations for RAPZ and Restaurant Tax money. County Executive Craig Buttars says one issue that will have to be settled will be the splash pad issue.

“We had some concerns expressed from some of the cities who applied for splash pads,” Buttars explains, “because the RAPZ committee decided not to fund the splash pads this year. Earlier we were in a really dry situation.

“That has changed but we already denied those applications. We are going to try to see if we can work something out for those two or three communities who didn’t receive any funding this year.”

Buttars says hopefully something can be worked out. Requests for RAPZ and Restaurant Tax money totaled more than $4 million while the money available was $2.1 million.
