North Logan woman sentenced to jail for stealing from employer

Trina Yelton, 34, sentenced to 90-days in jail for stealing between $25,000 and $31,000 from her employer.

LOGAN — A judge has sentenced a 34-year-old North Logan woman to 90-days in jail for stealing from her former employer.

Trina Yelton appeared in 1st District Court Tuesday morning.

During sentencing, defense attorney Shannon Demler told the court Yelton is trying to pay back her former employer, Great Western Park and Playground in Wellsville. The amount of money is still being determined and estimated between $25,000 and $31,000.

Court records show, in December Yelton pleaded guilty to one count of theft, a third-degree felony and forgery, a class A misdemeanor.

Yelton told the court she was sorry for her actions.

Judge Brian Cannell sentenced Yelton to jail but said she could be released early if she pays back the money.
