Steven Whitten, 20, arrested for allegedly growing marijuana in his apartment near 750 East 700 North in Logan.

LOGAN — Police arrested a 20-year-old Logan man Monday, accused of growing marijuana in his apartment.

Logan City Police Capt. Tyson Budge said Steven Whitten was taken into custody after investigators received an anonymous tip. The informant told officers they believed marijuana plants were seen growing inside an apartment at 750 East 700 North, near Utah State University.

Budge said when officers searched the apartment they found multiple plants and other materials for harvesting drugs. Whitten was arrested on an initial offense of cultivating marijuana, a second-degree felony, and two misdemeanors of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Cache County Jail and later released after posting bond.  Formal charges are pending an investigation.

Whitten is originally from Portland, Oregon and is attending school at Utah State University.
