A free community event for local high school students at Logan’s Cache Valley Fun Park Wednesday, March 4 is designed to provide fun activities plus information about dating violence and healthy relationships.
Hosting the event are the Northern Utah Violence Prevention Education Coalition and the CAPSA Youth Council. James Boyd is CAPSA’s Director of Development.
“The goal of the event is to educate about safe dating,” said Boyd. “We want to make sure our high school kids understand what a healthy relationship is.
“We didn’t want to make it just an educational thing, we wanted to make it fun, so we are renting out the Fun Park and we welcome all high school kids to come. They can play and have a good time and if they want to participate in the educational activities they will have an opportunity to win prizes.”
Students will be given punch cards and when they stop and listen to presentations at each of the multiple stations manned by representatives of CAPSA, Logan City Police and other agencies, they will qualify for prizes.
Boyd said all agencies participating are united in addressing high school dating violence.
“We want to help educate students to prevent violence in relationships so they know what a healthy relationship is.”
The event is from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Fun Park.
