Logan man waives preliminary hearing in child sex abuse case

Daniel Rivera-Arceo, 60, arrested and charged with sodomy on a child, aggravated sexual abuse of a child and attempted sexual abuse of a child, all are first-degree felonies. He also faces two additional charges of aggravated sexual abuse of a child from another case.

LOGAN — A 60-year-old man accused of sexually abusing a child, waived his right to a preliminary hearing and will face child sex abuse charges.

Court records show Daniel Rivera-Arceo appeared in 1st District Court Wednesday morning. Through a spanish interpreter, he told the court he wished to waive his preliminary hearing.

Rivera-Arceo was arrested in October. He is being charged with two counts of aggravated sex abuse of a child, a first-degree felony. He has not entered a plea.

Rivera-Arceo is currently being held in the Cache County Jail on an immigration hold. He is scheduled to appear again in court December 9.
