Logan Municipal Council considering e-cigarette ordinance and vacating right-of-way near fairgrounds

A public hearing will be held at Tuesday’s meeting of the Logan Municipal Council to consider an ordinance vacating portions of the right-of-way between 400 South and 500 West at the Cache County Fairgrounds.

The city has received a petition to vacate a portion of the public right-of-way in order to use the land as lawn space for the Cache County Fairgrounds. Officials say the right-of-way has not been used for many years.

A petition will be available in the Engineering Office at Logan City Hall for signing until 5 p.m. The council meeting starts at 5 p.m. in the council chambers of City Hall.

The issue of e-cigarettes will also be on Tuesday’s agenda of the Logan Municipal Council.  The council will be asked to consider an ordinance that would prohibit smoking of e-cigarettes in city parks, recreational areas, cemeteries, and near mass gatherings.

The proposal will be presented by Russ Akina, director of Parks and Recreation.
