Write-in candidate decries ‘negligence’ in Cache County Treasurer’s office

His name won’t be on the ballot but Tyler Pitcher said he is working hard to become a write-in candidate for Cache County Treasurer. Pitcher is opposing Republican candidate Craig McAllister who defeated deputy treasurer Denise Lindsay in the Republican Primary.

McCallister has been acting as the temporary treasurer while Lindsay is on leave. On KVNU’s Crosstalk program Tuesday, Pitcher said McCallister has been supported all along by outgoing Treasurer Karen Jeppsen.

“She is currently training him. And there’s a lot of negligence,” Pitcher claimed. “Some of it in the idea of good will and good faith towards citizens.

“But others are back-room deals and inappropriate transactions for businesses, and uneven practices for fine and fee adjustments that were given to individuals who were known friends and associates.”

Pitcher said he supported Lindsay because she has so much integrity and because she uncovered many wrongdoings taking place in the Treasurer’s office.

If elected, he said he will make sure Lindsay is a deputy treasurer and, among other plans, will pursue term limits for county elected officials.
