Charges unlikely in Willard double fatality

Two vehicle traffic accident Saturday night, August 23, 2014. Jacob Santos, 15, and Ruth P. Nelson, 66, were pronounced dead after their 2005 Lexus was broadsided by a 2006 Toyota Tundra driven by Jordan Taylor, 31.

Willard police say charges are unlikely for a Cache County man involved in a double fatality, Saturday night in Box Elder County.

Willard police officer Jean Loveland said 31-year-old Jordan Taylor was driving a 2006 Toyota Tundra near 750 North Main in Willard, when a 2005 Lexus pulled in front of him.

The Tundra broadsided the Lexus, driven by 15-year-old Jacob Santos of Salt Lake County. A 66-year-old woman, Ruth P. Nelson was also a passenger in the car.

Both Santos and Nelson were pronounced dead at the scene. Taylor was transported to Brigham City Hospital, treated for minor injuries and released.

Loveland said there does not appear any charges will be filed against Taylor. She said it appears Santos did not see Taylor approaching and proceeded forward through the intersection.

The accident is under investigation and will still be reviewed by the Box Elder County Attorney’s Office.
