Search is on for new State Superintendent

Executive search firm SEARCH Group Partners has been engaged by the Utah State Board of Education to lead the search for a new State Superintendent of Public Instruction.

Dr. Martell Menlove, the current State Superintendent, announced his retirement in March. The State Superintendent of Public Instruction oversees a staff of nearly 1,000 employees and is responsible for the distribution of more than $3 billion to district and charter schools.

As the principal executive officer of the State Board of Education the Superintendent directs the work of the Utah State Office of Education and assists the State Board of Education in oversight of the Utah State Office of Rehabilitation and the Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind.

The State Superintendent is the liaison to the Governor, State Legislature and other stakeholders on behalf of the State Board of Education.
