Mendon man pleads guilty to attempted sex abuse of a child

Brian Bartholomew Reed, 38, charged with five counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, all first-degree felonies. 

<span style=”font-size: 12px;”>LOGAN — A 38-year-old Mendon man was in 1st District Court Monday afternoon, pleading guilty to charges of attempting to sexually abuse a child.</span>

During court, Brian B. Reed pleaded guilty to two charges of attempting to sexually abuse a girl, under the age of 13. Under the plea agreement, the original charges of aggravated sexual abuse will be changed to attempted sexual abuse. The remaining three charges will be dismissed.

Prosecutors said Reed was in a position of trust when he abused a girl back in 2012. He was arrested November 26, 2013 and later released after posting a $25,000 bond.

Reed will be sentenced July 14.
