Local politics heating up

The nominating conventions are over where several local political contests were decided. One of these included the Cache County Sheriffs Office where Incumbent Lynn Nelson was ousted by the delegates, with challenger Chad Jensen getting 82% of the vote.

Cache County Republican Party Chairman Danny Brownell said the next event on the political calendar is June 24 which is Primary Election Day. Brownell said there will be three intra-party contests.

“In the Primary Election, we will have a race in the county recorder’s office between Michael Gleed and Brad White. We will have a race in the county treasurer’s office between Denice Lindsay and Craig McCallister. In the county executive office it will be between Craig Buttars and Boyd Pugmire,” he said.

Brownell said those running in the Primary are expected to be starting their campaigns soon.
