It will be Republican versus Republican at Friday night’s Cache County Republican nominating convention. County GOP Party Chairman Danny Brownell says some of the votes will be hotly contested.
Even so, he says those who go on to participate in the primary and general election will represent the county well.
“I suspect that we will remain a strong Republican strong-hold for many years to come,” Brownell says. “I think Cache Valley is the north star of conservative politics in Utah. We’re steady and we’ll always be there.”
Cache County Democrats meanwhile have fielded just one candidate this year: Jeffrey Turley. Turley is running for Utah State Representative in District 5 against Republican incumbent Curt Webb.
Brownell says each candidate will be able to address the delegates at Friday’s convention. It begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Mount Logan Middle School.
