LOGAN, Utah – Utah State football will have two nationally televised Friday night games it was announced Thursday as the Mountain West released its initial slate of 11 televised games set for national broadcast by CBS Sports Network and the three ESPN networks (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU).
Utah State’s road game at Wyoming will now be played on Friday, Nov. 7 at 6 p.m., while its home finale against San José State will now be played on Friday, Nov. 21 at 7:30 p.m. Both games will be televised nationally on ESPN2.
Utah State has a 36-24-4 all-time advantage against the Cowboys after posting a 35-7 home win last season in what is Utah State’s fourth-most played rivalry with 64 previous games. USU will be playing SJSU for the 37th time this season, after the Aggies’ 40-12 road win a year ago in what is the seventh-most played rivalry in school history.
During the 2013 season, Utah State had 11 nationally televised games on ABC, CBS, CBS Sports Network and the EPSN family of networks, and two more games broadcast regionally by ROOT Sports.
Other Friday night games involving Mountain West teams that will be televised by CBS Sports Network and one of the ESPN Networks include Washington State at Nevada on Friday, Sept. 5 at 8:30 p.m. MT (ESPN/ESPN2); Northern Illinois at UNLV on Friday, Sept. 12 at 8 p.m. MT (CBSSN); Fresno State at New Mexico on Friday, Sept. 26 at 6 p.m. MT (ESPN/ESPN2); San Diego State at Fresno State on Friday, Oct. 3 at 8 p.m. MT (CBSSN); San Diego State at New Mexico on Friday, Oct. 10 at 8:30 p.m. MT (ESPNU); Fresno State at Boise State on Friday, Oct. 17 at 6 p.m. MT (ESPN); BYU at Boise State on Friday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. MT (ESPN/ESPN2); Air Force at San Diego State on Friday, Nov. 21 at 7:30 p.m. MT (CBSSN); and Colorado State at Air Force on Friday, Nov. 28 at 1:30 p.m. MT (CBSSN).
Between the two television partners, up to 48 football games will be televised this year on their various national platforms. Additional broadcasts by CBS Sports Network, ESPN networks, ROOT SPORTS and the Mountain West Network powered by Campus Insiders will be announced in the coming weeks.
It is anticipated that all remaining MW-controlled games in the 2014 schedule will be played on Saturdays.
Utah State will open the 2014 season on Sunday, Aug. 31 at Tennessee and play its first home game the following weekend as it hosts Idaho State on Saturday, Sept. 6. USU will begin Mountain West play on Saturday, Oct. 11 at home against Air Force.
