LOGAN — A mandatory water boiling advisory has been issued for the residents of Trenton.
City Council Member and Water District Manager Marla Trowbridge said the order went into effect after “murky colored” water was found in the city’s drinking system.
Trowbridge said two of the city’s springs are being contaminated with surface water that could be carrying E. coli, cryptosporidium, giardia and other bacteria.
Trowbridge said the boiling order could remain in effect for a couple months until the ground dries out and the spring sources are repaired or isolated.
The city of Trenton will be working with the State Division of Drinking Water to redevelop the springs.
The water boiling order is only for the residents of Trenton and does not affect neighboring communities.
