Logan City studying one-way streets and more roundabouts

A study has been done that shows a one-way couplet system should be considered as a way to move traffic through Logan in the future. The city’s public works director, Mark Nielsen, said he too believes that one-way streets is a good idea for moving traffic along 200 East.

But he said the system is so expensive that it will have to wait a while.

In the meantime, Nielsen said there will soon be a roundabout at 500 North and 200 East.

“We plan this summer to build that roundabout,” explained Nielsen. “That will eliminate the four-way stop. That will open up traffic flow.

“There are some improvements we are making there for pedestrians to help pedestrians get through that intersection.”

Nielson said on <a href=”http://610kvnu.com/assets/podcaster/328/2014_01_27_328_18401_2867.mp3″ target=”_blank”>KVNU’s Crosstalk program Thursday</a> that it could be 15 years before a couplet system is a reality.
