The Logan Downtown Alliance has awarded JS Ward Investments, LLC with the 2013 Downtown Project of the Year award for their work in renovating commercial property in the cultural heart of Logan.
Gary Saxton, manager for the Alliance, says JS Ward Investments has demonstrated a substantial effort to reinvest in downtown and is being recognized for revitalizing space and structures at 258 South Main in downtown Logan.
Saxton says Ward, who is the owner of Wholesale Flooring Source and Carpets of America, will receive a special award at the Cache Chamber of Commerce’s annual awards banquet on January 23.
The old Anderson Lumber building was a “diamond in the rough” that needed extensive engineering and planning when Jason Ward decided he needed another location to better serve his customers. Saxton says since he purchased the property in 2009, Ward has invested an additional $1.5 million since acquiring the property for $1 million.
Saxton says Ward envisions a day when the property might well become known as Anderson’s Square, with the addition of 10,000 square feet of more retail.
“It seemed a shame for such a wonderful location to not be used to its full potential since Anderson Lumber moved on,” said Ward in a press release.
