Fire damages two businesses

Crews outside Rita's Bakery and Part's Plus Car Care Center after a fire was reported in a shared wall, between the two businesses.

LOGAN – A fire Wednesday night caused damage to both Rita’s Bakery and Parts Plus Car Care Center.  Cache County Fire Marshal Jason Winn said the fire was first reported by employees at the auto parts store, near 311 North Main.

When fire crews arrived they found smoke inside the building coming from a joint wall, shared with the bakery to the south.

Crews then entered the bakery’s second floor and finished extinguishing the fire.

Winn said damage is estimated at $10,000.  Investigators have not determined what sparked the fire in the wall.

Winn said early reports of two people being treated for smoke inhalation were incorrect.  Two employees of the auto parts store had tried to put out the fire, using an extinguisher and had retardant splash into their eyes.  They were not injured.
