Snow and ice creates dangerous roads

LOGAN — A late Tuesday storm made for icy road conditions during the afternoon commute. Blowing snow and freezing temperatures made for slick driving, beginning around 5 p.m.

Dispatch operators for Logan City received 20 accident calls around the county, during the storm. Most of the accidents reported involved vehicle slide-offs. None of them resulted in serious injuries.

Snow plows were called out to help clear ice and sand roads.

Several roads were closed temporarily, USU Police blocked vehicles from driving on Stadium Drive because of multiple slide-offs.

Tuesday’s storm was the beginning of colder temperatures expected for northern Utah over the next several days.

The National Weather Service reports high temperatures between 15 and 20 degrees through the rest of the week. A chance of snow is also in the forecast through the weekend.
