Utah State announces two additional games to BYU football series

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State University Vice President and Director of Athletics Scott Barnes announced Wednesday that two additional games have been added to its existing football contract with BYU, extending the series through 2018.

The two new games added to the contract include Utah State hosting BYU in Logan in 2017 and BYU hosting USU in Provo in 2018.

With the addition of these two games, the in-state rivals are now scheduled to meet at Romney Stadium in Logan on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015 and on Friday, Sept. 29, 2017, and at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo on Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016 and Friday Oct. 5, 2018.

“We are excited to continue our home and home series with BYU long-term,” said Barnes. “This rivalry is important to both institutions and the state of Utah.”

All-time, Utah State and BYU have faced one another 83 times as the Aggies are 34-46-3 against the Cougars, including an 18-16-2 record in Logan, a 16-27-1 record in Provo and a 0-3 record at neutral sites.

Overall, BYU is Utah State’s second-most played rivalry behind Utah (111) as the Aggies and Cougars have played one another every year except nine (1943, 1944, 1945, 1995, 1998, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007) dating back to its inaugural meeting in 1922.
